We are proud to announce that Kinaraa has been chosen as one of four organisations to partner with Ubele in delivering the nationwide Agbero 2100 project. This initiative is designed to provide long-term strategic and tailored support to Black and racially minoritised organisations. Across England, 50 community-based organisations will be selected, with 24 receiving further bespoke support and 20 focusing on health and wellbeing.
The necessity for systemic change has never been clearer, especially highlighted by the disproportionate impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our communities. However, these challenges are not new. They are rooted in a long history of societal and health inequities and systemic racism. Resembling Kinaraa’s work as an infrastructure organisation, Ubele describes Agbero 2100 as a “strategic intervention,” delivered through masterclasses, peer networking, and one-on-one support. The programme focuses on six critical areas:
Governance and Leadership
Operations and Infrastructure
Financial Resources
Physical Asset Ownership
Impact and Effectiveness
Connectedness and Engagement
The insights gained from Agbero 2100 will be meticulously documented, creating a tested model for strategic support that can be shared nationally, informing wider practice and driving systemic change. Barbara Gray, Kinaraa's founder, views this project as a legacy effort. She emphasises, “If you have no assets, then it’s really difficult to grow.” She envisions that through collaborative efforts, future generations will have assets readily available, eliminating the wealth and funding challenges we face today.
Kinaraa is excited to be a part of this transformative programme, working towards our goal of leading systems change.
